Hey Everyone,
I’ve got some exciting news to share.
A Cup of Tea, a short film that’s incredibly close to my heart, is making its NYC debut tomorrow, August 1st, at 6 PM at the Chain Film Festival in Manhattan.
With that said, as described on the film's Instagram account, A Cup of Tea is "a short film by @gabenoble about murder in the hands of the police, forgiveness, and what it means to be a Black parent."
This award-winning 18-minute short film, written and directed by Gabe Noble, stars Lolita Foster, known from *Orange Is the New Black*, and L.A. Williams, who has been in films like *Gone Girl*. The stunning cinematography by Rikki Porter and the moving score by Gus Glasser to complement the film's emotional core.
Andrew Riley, through Doghouse Atlanta, provided executive production, financing, and editing support. Riley's words capture it best: "It's Gabe's creative product, and I believe it's his time to shine. This film is a testament to his creative vision, hard work, and dedication. We're all here to support him and ensure the sanctity of the Black American space is respected."
In terms of my connection to this movie, to Gabe’s short film, it’s a few things. For one, I’m a credited producer. Two, I’ve known Gabe for 15 years. We’d already been in college for a year, and collaborating on a weekly radio program, The Friday Fusion, when he told me he wanted to make movies. Gabe’s journey to this momentous achievement, in the Gabe’s adopted home of a city, hasn’t been easy, and yet here he is, making movies.
All that said, let me just point out that A Cup Of Tea also, on its own merits, special. It’s already earned awards and festival recognition and with your consideration, your support it could make it to the Academy too.
I hope you get a chance to attend a screening at one of the upcoming screenings and other soon-to-be-announced screenings and festival showings.
